The men's adventure magazines genre – also called armpit slicks or sweats – was popular during the 1950s and 1960s in the US. The magazines presented purportedly "real" stories of war, exotic places, and scantily clad dames in destress. When the men of the World War II and Korean War generation aged, the issues' circulation began to drop.
